With reference to your letter of 31st January 1930 118/Abroad/1714 (D.L.1.a.) Confidential, relative to the proposed removal of the Naval Armament Depot from Hong Kong to Stonecutters Island, I am commanded by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of the Army Council, that They do not anticipate that there will be any difficulty in meeting Military requirements on the points mentioned in your le ter, but a further communication will be made as soon as a definite assurance can be given.

In the meantime I am to transmit a copy of a letter to the reasury seeking the sanction of that Department to provision being made for the scheme in the forthcoming Navy Estimates. A copy of the letter from H.E. The Governor dated 22nd August 1929 therein referred to, is also enclosed, together with copy of a letter to the Colonial Office acquainting them of the proposals.
